Zoro (b-1962) – Lenny Kravitz – Bobby Brown
Another drum clinic I saw at Mars Music in Orlando was Zoro. (Joe Skinner was the host) I was not familiar with Zero playing with Lenny Kravitz. Zoro played with recorded tracks and talked about his book. “The Commandments of R&B Drumming”
I was impressed with his funky style and demonstration…The Great Drummers of James Brown. Revisiting Youtube videos, he played for monster crowds with Lenny Kravitz. Now I Know.
“Fly Away” was a tune I’d heard before. Watching a Modern Drummer Festival video with Zoro playing solo, I love the tuning, groove and feel. His touch and ghost notes rivals any drummer I’ve seen. He does it without wasted energy and --over the top—acrobatics
Zoro currently plays music and has a Christian Ministry. He speaks in Juvenile and Prison Centers. He has authored a book called “Soar - 9 Proven Keys for Unlocking Your Limitless Potential”
His latest book is “The Big Gig Book” He has a beautiful website
