Thanks to my 50 Substack subscribers. I think I’ve been doing these post for a year. Big thanks to those that support with a monthly or yearly donation. Substack has a built in behind the scenes stats highlight. I can see that when I don’t post every day I get little or zero traffic. Though I only have 50 subscribers, when I post and it gets opened by 35+ I consider that success.
Here’s the book update, in my opinion it’s finished, 100 plus drummers is now 130 drummers I’ve seen bla bla bla…..
I’ll start posting unposted drummers that didn’t get posted on Substack.
I’m saving my in depth experience for the books finale, but I’ll say it’s been an interesting couple weeks doing this. Jogging my memory is always an exercise that I find challenging. I’ve ended my drummer number several times at 100+ and remember another, since it’s 130 I’ll go with that, though 100 is a nice general number….
In the world of books and independent publishing, I have zero clue if my efforts will monetize into a break even for my time. If any books sell, great…..
When I looked at the physical creation of this book, I thought it may be a cute hardcover coffee table book. If it goes into a 2nd print, maybe it will be that. But for now I’m going my normal kdp Amazon publishing route. A simple 185 page paperback.
I’m putting a title on the front, that’s about it. Quite unprofessional in the real publishing arena, even for first timers as independents, which I’m not.
Im looking forward to another project. Finishing my early learners music curriculum web site and something new that includes drumming.
I’ll briefly say that this writing trance like state I go into remembering drummers, places, venues, music and that has brought to my attention- me me me - and my drumming music journey.
When I wrote “Notes of a Young Drummer 1966-1969” I talked about my daily trancelike experience to time travel mentally and remember the stories, people, places, music etc that was in that memoir.
This book is a continuation of those stories that were not in the 1966-1969 time frame. The 70s had a few moments for me. So, that kind of stream of consciousness is in the 130 Drummers style. I will start posting only those excerpts.
So again, thanks to my 50 subscribers, I’ll be posting regularly on Tuesday.
