I like cars, it started when I was very young. In the 60s, it was a popular theme in top 40 music to sing about cars, street racing, teenage tragedy. In 1964 there were several tunes in the top 40 that included lyrics about different makes of cars. Those classics are the Corvette, GTO and Ford Cobra. The Chevy 409, Little Duece Coupe.
In this tune by Jan and Dean, there’s a foreign car known as the Jaguar XKE, a classic ride.
Brian Wilson was one of the co-writers of Dead Man’s Curve. As a teenager I recognized this as the California Sound, vocal surf music popularized by The Beach Boys.
