This is another page from Tommy’s book. I wrote this about Tommy’s arrangement to get Lionel Hampton his first vibraphone. I briefly mention that Tommy would go to Louis Armstrong’s house on Sunday’s for a jam session and barbecue. How I miss my opportunities to talk to Tommy in person about so many historical events. Though Tommy performed in theaters, radio, television , vaudeville and more, Tommy always said “his birthright was Jazz” which was really swing music before it became a cliché term without clarification.
