At the beginning of 2022 I spent several weeks, hundred of hours building and uploading my catalog of music to the available “aggregators” in the music business world. There are a few I’ll just leave unmentioned. It was an interesting experience. This did include Spotify as the final landing place.
I also joined a couple “Beat” sites including Airbit and Beatstars. I’ll mention these without holding back, they were a total waste of time and money. That genre and arena is a waste wasteland. Nothing happened. The flip to that was the short success I had on Bandcamp with my drumtrack library. Somehow I had 2 heavy well known producer artist buy bundles of my drumtracks. One is the producer for Bjork, the other, Madlib a well known LA artist. I really like some of the things I’ve heard from Madlib.
I’ll be relaunching my drumtrack library in some capacity in the future. I still have things invisible and private on bandcamp till I decide it’s resting place.
Then, I started seeing this thing about NFT’s, and it was very interesting. I knew a little about crypto from a friend that owned Bitcoin. He earned several hundred thousand dollars from it. It went from 12k to 60k for a period of time. Today it’s at 18,830.
As a musician I will never have an audience, my material isn’t popular. But as an artist, there are potential collectors for my work. I realized this when I sold bundles of drumtracks to one buyer.
This is quoted thousands of times each day about Spotify, (they pay the musician $00.003 per stream. In 2019 artist we’re getting $0.00437 per stream.
“Forget-about-it” screw them ………
Hence, mid 2022 I deleted all history and uploads of any music I produced. What’s the point? There is none.
I have zero idea if I’ll make a penny from NFT world…….but it will be interesting and if I sell anything it will be for more money than I would get from todays music platforms.
Since mid 2022 there are dozens of NFT platforms for music, art, photography, video and more. People are making money, artist are selling to individual collectors and buyers.
I’ll eventually join this NFT site called NFTify, I like it’s possibilities. I’ll also post on more known sites like Opensea etc……
