I’m still following the world of NFT. I hope to (soon) jump in with my first creation. I realize this is uninteresting and foreign to many, including my 49 loyal subscriber’s.
Add imoji funny face here.
As a content creator, this platform has mysterious possibilities for me. As a drummer- I launched a web site, on Bandcamp last year. This site included hundreds of my drumtracks for sale. I’ve mentioned the success I had with (2) buyers. These were high profile producers [for me anyway) that had money to spend, and they did. One buyer was the producer for Bjork, the other a well known artist-producer known as Madlib. After their initial purchases, Madlib continued to buy most everything I posted. I haven’t heard anything in his projects, he’s an interesting artist. I like many of his releases.
Anyway, I had 2 buyers. The concept of Spotify and social music streaming requires millions of downloads to produce the money I made from 2 buyers. Much of the concept of the artist NFT is : you only need 100 loyal fans to support an individual or special work.
This video post about Doodles, is really interesting. I’ve known about them and their success for several months. What they created is more than a single expensive jpeg, it’s a brand. They are now looking to take the millions of dollars they made from their Doodles collection, to compete with Disney, Pixar etc. in the Web 3+ platform environment.
They have a plan and the monetary funds to give it a try. Web3, A - I etc, it’s here to stay. I like the Doodle executives discussion about individuals, consumers looking to own things. Those things are usually part of a brand, Nike, Apple etc. Those companies sell exclusive ownership to unknown V I P memberships.
NFTs of music, art, are prime products for that type of exclusive membership.
Though I’ve waited months to get in, it’s still early in this network of media. Yes, there is crazy money being spent to buy expensive jpegs, but there’s more to it, if you have an original brand, original character, original ideas and concepts. At least, it’s worth a try. Traditional platforms for creative content is dead or on life support. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it…..Badaboom
