Side drum Snare highhat

Before the drumset was invented, around 1910-+ , drummers played bass drum on the floor or in a chair with their sticks, like this, but they didn’t use a hihat or play with 2 sticks in one hand. Not that I know of. BaDaBoom , this bass drum is 100 years old. They don’t make them like they use to, imo…..,
