I’ve been busy working on a “music” project and haven’t posted any of my regular Mumbo jumbo here on Substack. I have been viewing different YouTube sites pertaining to news. I don’t own a tv, I don’t subscribe or watch fox, cbs, msnbc, nbc, abc, cnn or any mainstream media. Just watching those fake talking heads and their scripted jibberish raises my blood pressure. Plus , anything they say is usually hours or days in the past.
I am aware of different social media platforms.
Haven’t subscribed to this influencer, Tim Pool, but I’ll watch his YouTube channel. I think I’ve seen clips with Robert Malone and others during the pandemic era. I’m aware of Joe Rogan, I’ve seen several of his shows.
I’ve recently become very interested in watching Bill Maher sit around and smoke reefer with his guest, on his video/podcast.
This guy, Russell Brand, is an interesting and very entertaining guy. For the past week he’s been making rounds as guest on many programs. Tucker Carlson, Bill Maher, Morning Joe, Gutfeld and more. I knew zero about him until this week. He can really bring it to the mic and camera.
That said, brings me to my point, these influencers are the new news.
I remember when John Stewart was a comedian with a show that presented political content and jokes. The current “comedian” tv host, Jimmy Kimmel, I don’t find funny at all. That’s just me.
Kimmel, Colbert, I get it…orange man bad…them good. SNL has completely tanked. I do like the Fallon music things that he participates in. Maybe his thing is less politics.
This platform, Substack, I guess it host many of the popular influencers.
I’ve watched clips from last weeks Senate and House hearing on the Twitter Files issue. Watching the attacks on the two journalist, Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger, by certain party representatives, was similar to McCarthyism in the 50s.
Just when I think our polarization of left, right, black, white, Christian, Atheist, conservative, liberal etc. can not get worse, bam, there it is.
This new news medium for presenters of content continues to grow and develop. Many of them are younger and attract a new audience. Limbaugh is gone. The die hard Hannity fans, I guess they still connect. Others on mainstream radio, I have better things to do.
These new content providers like Brand and the new Bill Maher are very interesting though. The new Bill Maher smoking reefer with Woody Harrelson and Quinton Tarantino is very entertaining. BaDaBoom
Lots of good ideas in this post Mike. I'm with you. Ditching most of the media that is out there now is a good idea. I too like Russell Brand though. He is sharp indeed.
