I haven’t posted from this series in awhile. Tommy Thomas was a special man. He was legendary amongst his drumming peers. Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, William F Ludwig. He had many opportunities to join Benny Goodman, Paul Whiteman and other traveling groups. Tommy did that in the 30s and early 40s. He was Chicago’s A-list percussionist. These are a few excerpts from my meeting Tommy. They come from his book of material which I organized and published.
